Rare: Some cultures value the hymen so i believe that there are some countries where the gynecologist will recreate the hymen surgically.  

Oftentimes the hymen is disrupted without sexual intercourse so this type of surgery is unnecessary.

Very rarely the hymen can be imperforate, and needs surgery to open.  This can be a cause of delayed menses in young women.

Don't : You do not need to fix it if you have normal periods. Talk to your gynecologist. If you need surgery it is painless cut and takes 3 sec.

once you have surgery for an imperforate hymen does that mean the hymen is broken?

No. : Surgery to correct an imperate hynen is a necessity. It involves a small incision in the middle of the hymenal membrane. It should not affect the hymenal ring around the vaginsl opening. In other words, getting the surgery will not take away one's virginity. Rest assured, the virginity is still not affected. Only sex will make you a non-virgin.

i have a septate hymen & i want a surgery for it.coz the pain is extremely excruciating when i try to have sex.will it cost a lot?

No its inexpensive: Many MD's offices are equipped to perform the excision much like ambulatory surgical centers.(ASC). The GYN MD's office usually have medications to numb the area or oral/IV agents prior to the procedure to minimize any discomfort. Good luck!

See doctor : Given one doesn't know the details of your surgery, if you are at all concerned about post surgical issues, my best recommendation is to make an appointment with your surgeon to be checked. It would not be normal for there to be any trapped air or gas as you say in the vagina.  See your doctor for a complete exam.

Try a finger: Start by inserting one finger into your vagina. See if it goes in comfortably. If so then try two. Use some lubrication like KY. If you are unable to insert two fingers in and of course may not be possible without surgery. An obgyn can evaluate

i want to get a hymen repair surgery this year. and ill be getting married in 3 years. will my hymen repair still be intact. and will i bleed on my first marriage night after 3 years?

Hymen repair can be: performed, of course if a person has vaginal sex, it is undone. Otherwise, finding a surgeon with technical skills, should be relatively easy using internet searching. This type of surgery is generally not covered by medical insurance, as it is deemed cosmetic. If the hymen remains intact postop, vaginal intercourse would likely tear it, causing some bleeding.
