i'm 8 weeks postpartum. i gave birth to twins c-section. i asked my partner to count the needles wholes injected on my back he said 11+ i was told that they will put an oxygen mask that will make me sleep. now my back aches will i heal?

Accepted Answer

May take a few: months to stop feeling bruised/sore. The placement of a spinal anesthetic, can take multiple attempts to reach the proper location for a good level of pain control. The advantage for you and the babies compared to a general(sleep) anesthetic, are huge and much safer.

spotting for 2 wks straight, confirmed am pregnant possible twins c-section 7 mths ago hcg increasing normally. what are causes for bleeding? m/c?

Accepted Answer

Spotting: Spotting is relatively common in early pregnancy and isn't always a sign of miscarriage.  The cervix is often friable during pregnancy, so hold off on intercourse for a week or so and see if that makes a difference.  Implantation site bleeding is relatively common too.  If you smoke, stop as smoking is highly associated with this type of bleeding more likely to cause a miscarriage.

have been talking pain medication but it's not helping?

Accepted Answer

Recovery should be: going better, anemia, infection, come to mind as possible reasons for a slow recovery. See your doctor for a checkup.

Deficiencies: Are you bresatfeeding? Leg tingling is more vit b deficiency. Drink Multivitamin such as Repleni-Mag that has vitamins, minerals and aminoacids in.

what are the benefits of having twins early via c-section?

Accepted Answer

Depends: Early delivery for any pregnancy (singleton or twin) should be avoided.  If early delivery is not avoidable, then your doctor may decide that a c-section is safer for the babies than a vaginal delivery.  This usually occurs for very small babies and for babies that are breech or transverse and not head down for delivery.

About 4% but rising: The most common reasons for C-section of a second twin are heart rate problems and the baby coming down in a position other than head first. Many doctors used to be willing to deliver a second twin either butt first or by the feet, but few still have much experience in doing this. There is also a risk of injury to the nerves of the arm or learning disability in any baby that is born breech.

C-section!: 80% of all twins are born via c/s in the us nowadays. The reason is that the second twin has a 20% greater chance of dying at birth compared to the first twin. I recommend prelabor cesarean section for all twins at this time, especially if bilateral tubal ligation is planned - talk to your maternal-fetal medicine specialist to see if that is good option for you.

is it always necessary to have a c-section with twins?

Accepted Answer

No: Plans can change. Mode of delivery (vaginal, abdominal) depends on many things up to time of delivery: presentation and sizes of the babies, condition of the babies, condition of the mom, placenta locations and presence of bleeding, heart rates of both babies, pregnancy complications, etc. This decision is best made at the time with mom and the most experienced OB provider present or available.

will a c-section be necessary if one twin is in the transverse position?

Accepted Answer

No: If the first twin is head down then you can try for a vaginal delivery.  They can try to turn the second baby as the first one is coming out so that the second baby is head down.  Sometimes this doesn't work and you have a small chance of needing a c-section for the second twin.

if i'm having twins is it easier to have a c-section?

Accepted Answer

No: C-sections carry the complications of surgery and anesthesia. If the twins are presenting both head first and are size appropriate for the mother, then a trial of labor could possible be considered. In any other presentation such as breech (bottom first) then caesarian section should be seriously considered.
