why does my breast twinge? sometimes i feel a twinge in my left breast for a couple of seconds and when i press it the twinge goes away.

There : There are muscles under our breasts (the pectoralis muscle), that can twinge.  That is one possibility.  If you notice any swelling or mass then please be medically evaluated and be sure your mammograms are up to date if you are the age to get them.

i have been having twinges in my left breast.  have had mammo, ultrasound & mri.  all normal.  breast tissue dense.  concerned about breast cancer.  what followup do you recommend?  tests were done last august.

Twinges: First it is great news that all of the testing has been normal to this point.  I know it is frustrating not having an answer about the cause of the twinges.  I would imagine repeating the mammogram in 3-6 months would be reasonable.  If there is an early breast cancer (which there doesn't seem to be) you would be catching it early, when it's very treatable.  Would need more info about twinges...

Fiind a clinic: I would help find a neighborhood clinic or contact your local hospital to determine what resources are available to you. The good news is that tenderness if the breast is not a typical indication of a serious problem. The bad news is you should not ignore it.

See your doctor soon: Have you done a self breast exam?  Also have you had any breast surgeries, implants, etc?  Not knowing too much of your situation, i would suggest you go to your doctor asap and if it gets very bad or you get unusually bad swelling, go to the er.  Best of luck!

If a lump or mass: is present, you should see your doctor. If it is below the breast in the chest wall it could be a muscle or rib pain.  If worse with activity, could be your heart. If persistent or worse, see your doctor.

Depends: For women with large pendulous breast they could cover the spleen or transverse colon.  The left breast also lies over the heart and lungs.
