Drug-resistant TB: Drug resistant TB comes in 2 classifications; mdr and xdr, meaning multi drug -resistant and extensively drug resistant.  These are based on culture of the TB bacillus and sensitivity testing.  The more antibiotics the bacillus is resistant to the harder it is to treat, especially because it usually means it is resistant to the most effective drugs.  Still, successful treatment may be possible.

: Live with someone with known active TB for a month &amp; you would likely acquire it. The cited brief exposure is not considered worrisome even if the person were known to be contagious. The germ is not an easy one to get.

TB and infertility: TB can cause infertility, but usually it does not show any kind of symptoms until the infection has advanced to a severe level and can affect the infertility in women as well as in men. In the woman it causes tuberculosis in uterus and fallopian tubes where as in the man it cause tuberculosis of epididymo- orchitis, as a result of which no sperm can get into the semen.
