Easy to say/hard to: It is easy to say to get pregnant naturally at age 44, but very hard to do. Why? 1.) Ovulation is infrequent at this age 2) Early staging of menopause is very common. 3) Genetic abnormalities are very common due to aging of the sperm/egg combinations resulting in higher rates of miscarriage. Best bets are to see a Fertility GYN MD, undergo ART or IUI  with ovulation induction, and pray.

Chemical pregnancy?: I am not sure exactly what that means. If the pregnancy test was positive and very early on(less than 6 weeks) the pregnancy may not bleed if it is a "missed abortion".

Yes: Monthly ovulation is not a "fait accompli"( given) every month as the body sometimes says no go especially as women approach the peri menpause age bracket of 40 to 50. Younger women can also "skip" ovulation on occasion normally and the menstrual cycle interval will be a longer period of days.
