Accepted Answer

Yes: Hernia belts or trusses may be purchased at most medical supply stores.  While not fool-proof, they can temporize matters until definitive surgery is done.

Same: As far as i understand, these are both terms used to describe a hernia support system that may temporarily hold an inguinal or groin hernia in place.  They both mean the same thing to me.

Get it fixed: It may not come out now but will likely return after you lift something. They can do endoscopic surgery which takes no more than an hour and you will be up and about the same day.   The problem with hernia is that it limits your activities and you don't really want it to pop out when you are on a trip. The repair is simple and I would strongly encourage you to get it fixed.

Well.: If you the hernia does not cause any symptoms and you are ready to comply with the regimen of a truss go ahead. However, in time your abdominal muscles may get weaker and the hernia may grow in size and than you probably have to repair it anyhow. Have a surgeon see you and let him guide you as what would be the best for you. I would wear the truss only as a temporary measure.

i have an indirect left inguinal hernia 11mm protrusion of extraperitoneal fat i am wearing a truss can i travel before my surgery in 2 weeks.

If hernia: is only 11mm and is extraperitoneal and you are not in significant pain then you should be able to travel but minimize what you have to lift.

had a scrotal hernia repaired in 1993,i am now 65 years old and i have some pain in the scar area not all the time,i have had a cat scan and it showed nothing.i would like to know if i could wear a truss for support during the day?

: Neg CT  (and hopefully a local exam)   means you have no hernia in the area- A truss is to keep a hernia in - so you dont need to wear one. Besides it will only irritate the area . Best is to see a surgeon - things like nerve entrapment in the scar can cause such symptoms. Good luck

Certain : Exercises in the gym you will have to proceed with caution.   May need to lessen the weight and go for reps if the area is truly at a higher risk of hernia.  Talk to the surgeon.  But be cautious at the gym.
