Tropical sprue: It can be. The symptoms of tropical sprue -- not to be confused with celiac sprue -- can be severe, which can include severe diarrhea, ongoing fluid losses, malabsorption of nutrients, and profound weight loss. If left untreated, it can lead to death. The lining of the intestines is inflamed and damaged. Interestingly, the cause is still unknown but thought to be related to an infectious trigger.

Infection vs allergy: Celiac sprue occurs when your body develops IGA antibodies to a components of wheat (gluten,gliaden). These antibodies then attack your intestinal absorptive surfaces and injure them.Poor nutrient absorption then occurs, and continues to occur as long as your diet includes the foods that contain gluten.Tropical sprue describes the same poor absorption, but the cause is an infection of the bowel.

Tetracycline: Do not take tetracycline with food, especially dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cheese, and ice cream.
Drink a full glass of water with each dose of tetracycline and take it two hours after eating or two hours before eating.

i had inflammation in small intestine but celiac and chron's result are negative. as i live in india so is it possible that it could be tropical sprue?

Tropical sprue : Could be tropical sprue - but need to know how celiac and crohn's was ruled out. If you had a colonoscopy plus biopsy, they wshould have seen signs of trpical sprue.

i have ulcerative colitis but also have chronic inflammation in duodenum. so can ulcerative colitis and tropical sprue occur together as i am indian.

Yes!: This requires really careful consideration by your GI doctor. Because the other possibility is that you  DONT have ulcerative colitis but that you have Crohn's disease. So make sure your doctor has a chance to sort through all of your clinical data before making a game plan.

Celiac disease: As yet celiac disease is treated with a glutein free diet. The food companies have become aware or the problem so that today there more glutein free foods than ever.

good day,i seem to have most symptoms of celiac disease. how can i test for this & what medication can i take-difficult to follow a gluten free diet?

Blood/GI tests/none: The screening test for celiac is done with blood &amp; finds antibodies to your gut tissues. This must be done while you are on gluten to be accurate. If blood is positive a sample of intestinal tissue confirms it. There is no "med" for celiac disease. Any time CD patients eat gluten their body makes new destructive antibodies that attack the gut.
