Many options...: Ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) lo is a triphasic birth control regimen that cycles between ethinyl estradiol, norgestimate, and inert pills - has lowest hormone dosing of the triphasics.

Depending on how you are tolerating this cycling, you can try a different regimen with low hormone levels such as loestrin (which has a set level of hormones for each pill of the month).

i am on tri cyclin lo and have taken all my pills on time. mid cycle ive been having mild-severe cramps which has never happened before. sign of preg?

Probably not: if you have been taking your pills as directed then you are unlikely to be pregnant. If you are worried then take a home pregnancy test. You may be having some breakthrough of your bodies normal cycle through the birth control and may need a pill with a higher estrogen content. Ortho tricyclin: The "tricyclicic" bcp's sometimes create breakthrough bleeding, etc.. Get a prescription for a bcp combination type, with both the progestin and the estrogen analogs the same throughout the cycle (Seasonal or Seasonique for example).  Take the active pills at the same time each evening (within the hour of the previous day).

Mostly okay: Mostly your body will take it well as time goes, which means the side effects will gradually disappear as you get used to it.  But if not, contact to your physician and have it changed to a different brand, or from pills to other means of contraceptives.

Yes. : Yes. You are at risk for getting pregnant. With each pill you miss, the efficacy of the pill decreases. If you miss 3 pills, it is always recommended to throw the rest of the pack away, use a back up birth control method (i.E condoms) and restart a new pack on the first day (or first sunday) of your period.
You must use a back up method until then, and for atleast 7 days after restarting your pill.

In the meantime, the pregnancy hormone can be detected in your urine 14 days after conception. Take a pregnancy test to ensure.

Breakthrough bleed: Sounds like breakthrough bleeding. The first three months on a new birth control are the adjustment period. If you are still having breakthrough bleeding after this period you may need to follow up with you doctor for a different pill.

Use a back up method: If you missed 3 of your active birth control pills - it is enough for your body to start developing a follicle, so you are at risk of conceiving. I would recommend using a back-up method of bc for the next month, and consider using the  over the counter "plan b" if you have had intercourse in the past 3 days, just to be safe.

Take the test: If you want to know if you are pregnant, take a test. In today's world you do not need to wonder if you are pregnant or not based on symptoms. Pregnancy tests are available at any pharmacy and in minutes you will have your answer. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.

Breakthrough bleed: Sounds like breakthrough bleeding which occurs when you have bleeding at unscheduled times while on the pill. Brown  is simply  old blood that has been sitting at the back of the vagina. Often things get back to normal the next cycle. If not then schedule a visit to discuss changing brands  or changing birth control methods. This is very common. Other than being annoying it is not dangerous.
