my wife has have bile reflux for yrs. she is 29 has erosive gastritis and gerd. diet changes and prilosec doesn't help. what treatments are available?

Less info: Usually general measures are recommend e.g. small meals, no food 4 hrs before sleeping, sleeping with head propped up, avoiding fatty foods, sodas, caffein, alcohol and keeping normal wt.

EGD: I presume a gastroenterologist did the EGD and is familiar with your case/information/history etc. This is a discussion you should have with the GI doc as well as your cardiologist.

what juices are healing for erosive gastritis ? it seems some information out saying that juices are healing and some advise against it.

Juice?: Diet is probably not a big contributor to healing.  Treatment of underlying h pylori and treatment with a proton pump inhibitor are the keystones of therapy.

i treated erosive gastritis caused by h-plylori. i have mild gastritis again in endoscopy with negative h-p! what's cause this time? stress?

Rx success?: Overall eradication success with treatment for H. pylori is approximately 85 to 90%. Any follow-up testing must be done after a suitable interval to allow the bacteria, if still present, to increase in numbers so as to be detectable. It is also important that you do not take any antacid or acid suppression therapy for at least 30 days prior to any repeat testing.

Not likely: It is not likely that the Prilosec is associated with erosive gastritis.  It is possible that a behavior,e.g. nonsteroidals, smoking, alcohol may have been continued, in spite of being on Prilosec - which was the risk factor.   Prilosec, a proton pump inhibitor, is used to treat erosive gastritis, albeit at higher doses.

There are many: But common causes are use NSAIDs such as Advil (ibuprofen) in heavy doses ,alcohol,cocaine and radiation

Accepted Answer

Usually not, but:: The website eHealthMe reports that of 67,468 patients taking Plavix only 153 people (0.23%) reported gastritis as a side effect.  Some of these patients were also taking other medications well known to cause gastritis, such as aspirin and Celebrex (celecoxib).

Thus, if you are taking Plavix and have developed gastritis,
it's likely that something else is responsible.

H. Pylori infection: Have you been scoped &amp; if so, was a biopsy obtained? If not, it's still reasonable to argue that you have a bacterial infection of your stomach lining. At this point, an empiric triple or even quadruple therapy protocol is warranted (PPI + clarithromycin (or amoxicillin) + metronidazole + bismuth salicylate) x2 weeks. This could be managed by a Family Doc or PCP; no need to see gastroenterologist.

It means nothing ser: This is a twisted way of saying that there is nothing serious that the biopsy shows! the key word here is "inactive". If it was " active", then you would be told that you have mild gastritis. I would not worry about this biopsy report., . Of course your doctor who did the biopsy should be able to answer your questions and guide you further.!

i had erosive gastritis caused by h-pylori. i treated h-pylori  and it was negative. 
is it possible the gastritis remains still after treating h-p?

Accepted Answer

Possible?  Sure, ...: But not likely, unless you have another underlying cause of gastritis in addition, such as aspirin or NSAID use.  The gastritis usually heals.  If you're still having symptoms, perhaps you have another issue altogether, such as GERD, gallbladder disease, or irritable bowel syndrome. Good luck.
