For signs of infection - redness, swelling, ^'ed pain, purulent drainage, heat, red streaks or fever - seek medical care asap. Take care.

WHy plants ?: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.

See your doctor: Although pencils no longer have lead in them, a pencil wound can cause an infection and should be seen and treated by a doctor.  You also need a tetanus booster if you haven't had one in the past 5 years.

Swelling: Not a lot of information from your question. Going to presume the weeping is clear liquid in which case it's likely that the wound is near a swollen limb such as a venous ulcer of the leg. Need to control the swelling with a compressive bandage to affect healing.
