: People vary and would not be amazed if rare GI upset occurs if taken on empty stomach.  Drowsiness can occur and this can cause lethargy but weakness in legs does not occur

Yes: Scopolamine patches are fairly effective, but work best if applied the night before travel.  All drugs in this class share side effects of dry mouth, constipation, and sedation.  They may also potentiate the effects of alcohol or other sedating drugs.  Check with your doctor for interactions with any other medications you are taking or other underlying medical conditions.

Yes: Jerky frame movements, rapidly flashing lights, fast action (like car chases), and movements like roller coaster or falling sequences can cause motion sickness in some people, especially if the visual takes up more & more of your field of vision in which you lose your fixed frames of reference and so your brain is confused about position and gravity.

Blocks receptors : The patch contains scopolamine which works to block receptors in the brain that are involved with nausea and vertigo. It works in the same pathway as dramamine, (dimenhydrinate) another common nausea medication.

Most common side effect of these medications is drowsiness.  Care must be taken with continuous use or high doses of benzodiazepines.

Astigmatism & Motion: Astigmatism can cause refractive double vision or streaks and that in some cases can cause vision disturbances which can lower the threshold in a susceptible individual for simulating motion sickness.

No: Make sure that it's just motion sickness you have and not another problem with balance or vertigo.  Some causes of vertigo can be cured or treated very well with procedures or surgery.

Motion Sickness: Acupressure, acupuncture ; sea-bands can be used for motion sickness.  Ginger ; peppermint tea are also natural approaches to motion sickness.  Dramamine can be taken orally or scopolamine can be used as a patch. Zofran ; Phenergan (promethazine) as sometimes prescribed for the nausea that can occur with motion sickness.
