External version: An external cephalic version is usually done around 36-40 weeks.  Your doctor will give you a medicine to relax your uterus and attempt to turn your baby from the outside.  You can try acupuncture and moxibustion performed by an acupuncturist who specializes in women's health starting around 30-32 weeks.  There are also pelvic tilt "breech exercises" that can be done at home.

Some ideas: A position that gets your hips higher than your shoulders can help, either lying on slanted board, or  the "knee chest" position with your chest on the bed or floor and your hips up (like small kids sometimes sleep), for 15-20 min at a time, 2-3 times a day.  There are acupressure points that seem to help babies move from breech:  ask an acupuncturist for help.

What DID YOUR OB SAY: If it is your first baby - probably no, sometimes a version can be done to turn  baby which has to be done in  labor room at 37 weeks cause if something goes wrong u may need an emergency delivery, u may or may not be a candidate for that, but if u were my pt. I would schedule u for a csection at 39 weeks because u need to be delivered before u go into labor and i would do an us thatday to confirm.

They move: Babies settle into a position over time. They can be head down, sideways or butt first (breech). They have the most room(fluid) vs baby mass at 12 wks &amp; can change position at any time, doing it less often as the available room declines. They can call the position at any time with an ultrasound, but it matters more as it nears the end of pregnancy when chance of change is less.

I wouldn't: There is still plenty of time for baby to turn head down. There is not much worrying will do to help & kids are delivered that way every day.

Best to deliver C/S: Nowadays it is safer to deliver by Cesarean Section as infant's head may take time to deliver and the brain may be deprived of Oxygen. Most OB drs would deliver by C/S unless baby's legs already out.
