i had an amputation, btk, and from wearing a liner for my prosthesis, i'm getting big pimples on the back of my stump. how do i stop these? thanks

Ingrown hairs?: These occur often due to ingrown hairs since the liners are snug.  Meticulous care of the liners, rotating  them every other day, and use of antibacterial soap on both the liners and residual limb is helpful.  It is also important to make sure the soap is completely washed off, that no alcohol based products are used, and that a good moisturizing lotion is used before putting on the liner.

Transmetatarsal Amp: For a transmetatarsal amputation, the front part of the foot is removed anywhere from just behind the ball of the foot to about the midpart of the arch. The bones cut through are the metatarsals and this is how this procedure garners its name. A flap is created to achieve closure of the site. Many times we add the lengthening of the achilles to reduce pressure on end of the amputation stump.

Rehab post/amputatio: The rehab after an amputation it is always a benefit for the patient.You did not specified where ( which part of the body)  the amputation has been performed . And the rehabilitation must be specific for the  part of the body affected.

Infections/Tradition: Main reason was(and please correct me other docs if I am wrong), that infections were rampant.  Our understanding of germ theory was increasing in those days, but penicillin would not arrive until 1928.  With no way to adequately clean or sterilize wounds other than burning, amputation was the only option.  Cannon balls were the other cause of lost limbs.
