Depends : If you had major surgery or something to that extent that would be appropriate. But if the pain is for something less severe and you're taking four of them the question is what's causing your pain. But taking four of the schedule can be a normal dosage.

Be careful: first of all, I assume you are asking about the combination of clonazepam 0.5 mg twice a day with Percocet.

Although many of my patients combine these medications and reported positive results, officially this combination is not encouraged or even "contraindicated" because of the additive sedating effect. A lot of over doses are happening from the combination of an opioid with benzodiazepines

Accepted Answer

Yes: An overdose occurs when an excessive dose of a medication is taken.  Don't know what  dose was prescribed to that person or if the medications were actually prescribed to that person. Any individual who is taking opioids other than how prescribed  and is taking excessive amounts needs medical evaluation. If the person you are referring to is you - don't misuse medication or over-dose. Get help.

Percocet max daily: The maximum dose on Percocet 7.5/325 is 8 tablets in a 24 hours. You also should sign a contract stating that you would not seek pain medication from any other doctor.

Accepted Answer

Yes but be prudent.: The dosing of Percocet 10/325 is 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours per your physician. Your amount is safe if ordered by your surgeon. Be aware that you are also taking Alprazolam which may increase the side effects of the Percocet. Your itching may also be a side effect of the Percocet. Get well and if you have any problems call your physician.

Talk to your doctor : If you are taking this dose for this period of time, you should be OK to stop without experiencing much withdrawal. If you were to experience any symptoms, however, such as abdominal cramps, muscle aches, nausea, or diarrhea you could take a percocet on an as needed basis (i.e. One per day to alleviate.) Please talk to your doctor about your plans to discontinue a prescribed medication.

No: Speak with your prescribing physician.  If you are developing sedation at peak oxycodone levels it may indicate that you are not properly metabolizing the drug, and that may indicate problems with liver/kidney. There also may be other health conditions or drug=drug interactions going on - your collagen/vascular disease may be partly responsible. See your doctor.

Talk with doctor: The combination of opiates (Percocet) and benzodiazepines (Ativan) can depress respiratory function and be a problem.  They are frequently used together however. Adding a sleep aid such as Ambien (zolpidem) makes this even more risky (think of Heath Ledger) so you should discuss your concerns with your prescribing physician.

Unsafe: Vicodin and Percocet are both narcotics. They can make you very sleepy when taken together as well as depress respiratory drive. In addition, both medicines have Tylenol (acetaminophen) in them. Taking too much Tylenol (acetaminophen) can lead to liver damage.  Only take one of these medications as prescribed at one time.
