Best to be : Evaluated by a dentist.  Once an exam and appropriate x-rays are taken a more definitive diagnosis and aporopriate treatment recomnendations can be rendered.  Hope this helps.

had impacted wisdom tooth removed, now have abscess, if it rupture, would it rupture on outside of my cheek where its red or would it rupture in mouth?

Unknown: It may not rupture at all, but spread between the muscles. Please see the surgeon who extracted the tooth for further guidance.

drank way more than i meant to last night (sunday) and had hangover today at work. i am having impacted wisdom tooth out tomorrow (tuesday). could this cause a problem with anesthesia and/or this procedure?

: Should not be problematic as you will be 36 hours out from imbibing alcohol, however, you should share this with anesthesiologist. Hopefully, procedure being performed in a surgicenter or hospital &amp; not in dental chair without dedicated anesthesiologist. There will be minimal if any alcohol still in your body as blood alcohol level halves every 4 - 6 hours.

Many Options: Pain & swelling can be from a multitude of options such as:
1) infection
2) cyst
3) cancer
4) muscle spasm.
Bottom line is to have your surgeon evaluate this for you.

Only if Emergency: - which can described as a large abscess/facial swelling, causing fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, pain on swallowing, difficulty breathing, inability to open mouth, excruciating pain.  No treatment will be rendered in the ed (unless emergency as described).  They will just prescribe pain medicine & an antibiotic.  Best to see an oral surgeon during normal office hours rather than mis-utilze ed.

Two options: You can start by speaking to your general dentist. He\she can determine whether or not you should be referred to an oral surgeon for a consultation. It is hard to give you more information without actually being able to examine you and see an x-ray of your tooth.

TMJ : Sounds more to me that you are dealing with TMJ issues. You can be having both problems at the same time so it would be advisable to see your dentist if pain is severe. For TMJ antiinflammatory meds like Ibuprofen usually help with problem. Feel better soon.

we started our ivf cycle 2 days back with birth control pills. my wife will go on to injections from next to next week. my wife had a wisdom tooth which started giving her pain now and i am not sure on how to proceed.

Generally : Generally speaking it is preferable to avoid illness or additional medication during the ivf cycle.  However, medical and dental issues also need to be addressed and resolved to optimize outcomes with ivf.  So there is always a balance.  I would recommend that you find out from your dentist exactly what they need to do, then speak with your ivf doctor.  He or she is also invested in making sure you have the best outcome and can adjust your calendar or protocol if needed.
