Possible: hypoglycemia or metabolic imbalance PLUS palpitations deserves a thorough medical examination, blood testing and EKG with cardiac evaluation. Get seen a test ASAP.

Splenda: Try slicing up an apple or pear and sprinkling it with splenda - there are no calories except for the fruit (which is very good for you) and delicious. Blueberries are even lower in calories.  It will eliminate your craving for sweet. Another option is low fat yogurt. If that's not sweet enough, you can add a little splenda to that too.

why do diet pills and sugar blockers cause me heart palpitations and anxiety. these were prescribed by a doc. should i continue?

Stop: These pills are giving you side effects. Need to talk to the doctor who prescribed them. Till then and after a work-up you can decide how to proceed.

Palpitations: Salt per se shouldn't precipitate palpitations although it can raise the blood pressure. To affect heart action it would have to cause fluid retention which could put strain on a weak heart but not one with healthy heart and kidneys. Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol can induce palpitations, however.

Palpitations: These are caused by many things. Stress, excitement, irritants both physical and chemical, pressure like a hiatal hernia or esophageal push or pull, and primary heart things, the causes are very many in number.

A : A variety of abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias, can cause palpitations. Most causes are not dangerous, and the most common are premature atrial or ventricular contractions (pacs and pvcs). This is when there is an extra beat from the upper or lower chamber of the heart, which can be sensed as an extra beat or a skipped beat. But often times people cannot feel them at all. There are a whole variety of other arrhythmias though, and many require specific treatment by a cardiologist.

If you have had palpitations for years, they are most likely not serious but you should be evaluated if you have not already done so. It would be important for your doctor to exclude potentially dangerous things. If you know caffeine is a trigger for your palpitations, then avoiding it is the right thing to do. Other common triggers are alcohol, dehydration, and fatigue. If your palpitations are frequent and bothersome, your doctor may be able to prescribe a medication to help minimize them. Of course, this requires an accurate diagnosis first.

Seek a cardiologist: You will need to see a cardiologist in person so that your heart rhythm can be assessed.  Starting with an ekg and possibly an home monitor such as a holter monitor (24-48hrs) an event monitor (up to 30 days) or in extreme cases a surgically implantable loop recorder (2-3years) as the palpitation may come and go and rarely are "caught" while in the doctors office.

hi, female,31 occasionally, if i get too worked up during masturbation, ill have heart palpitations, 1-2 times,  is this normal? afterwards its not there at all, its not every time just sometimes. i wonder if maybe i forget to breath. thanks 205lbs

See a DR: Heart palpitations at any time are worth seeing a DR for. There are a variety of tests that can rule out heart problems esp arrythmias. These include a baseline EKG, holter monitor, and blood tests.
