Yes, but...: The uterus can rotate to the right & impact blood flow back to the heart from compression of the vena cava. Probably the best position for sleep in the 3rd trimester is on the left side in fetal position. That maximizes blood flow to the placenta which is how the baby gets nourishment.

GBS, Glucola: A 1 hour glucose tolerance test is done between 26-28 weeks to screen for gestational diabetes.
A culture for group b streptococcus bacteria is done at 35-36 weeks.
Urinalysis for protein and glucose are done at each visit, along with blood pressure checks.
Fetal testing (non-stress testing) may be indicated, but is not necessary in low risk pregancies.

: Yes, and recommended in many cases to decrease the chance of a herpetic genital lesion at the time of labor.  An active lesion at the time of labor, usually cause a recommendation for cesarean birth.
