Oral piercing: Rinse your mouth out after each time you eat and before you got o bed at night. Antibacterial mouthwash without alcohol is often used. Do not smoke, use chewing tobacco, drink alcohol, French kiss or give oral sex during healing.

Probably: This is something to discuss with your oral surgeon or dentist.  Likely they will want your tongue piercing removed during the procedure to decrease any chance of it dislodging and getting into your airway or blocking access to your teeth during the removal.

Gum & Teeth Damage: From a dental standpoint, tongue rings may cause damage to gums, teeth, and fillings. The  repeated pressure from the piercing to your gums can lead to gum recession and sensitive teeth. Biting or playing with the piercing can injure your teeth and lead to cracked, scratched or sensitive teeth. Piercings can also damage fillings and crowns.

i have bad allergic reactions. is a tongue ring safe for me?

No: I have found that people that have allergies are more likely to be allergic to metals as well.    If you are allergic to the metal in the tongue ring it could cause your tongue to swell and close off your airway.   Seriously, do you want to take that chance?

Need evaluation: You need to have your tongue examined by a healthcare professional to determine what is causing the discoloration and swelling, and have the appropriate treatment prescribed.

It might: Possible infections, tissue damage upon placement, and breakage of your teeth while it is in your mouth when you accidently bite on it.

Will pass: If there are no sharp edges in the ring, it will pass. If you get persistent pain in the stomach, or bleeding in your stool, see your doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine

if you remove an 8 hour old tongue ring out will it bleed and hurt worse?

Probably Bleed: Most likely there will be some bleeding and pain.  You may need to see a professional if you are unable to stop the bleeding.  Consider going to an ENT for removal.

Infection risk: Should not be any higher than kissing without a tongue ring - i.e. you can get cold viruses or herpes, but the ring per se, does not increase these risks.

do tongue ring holes ever heal over?

Accepted Answer

No: If the ring is in place long enough, the mucosa of the tongue will grow to cover the tract, and then it will not heal. It will shrink done so it is hard to see, but will not heal over.
