See a doctor: The symptoms you describe suggest a problem in the nerve roots exiting the spinal column in the back. Is this a new problem? Are the symptoms on both sides. If so, the symptoms may indicate a serious problem. Please see your doctor for an evaluation.

Annoying but benign: Sounds like meralgia paresthetica, lateral fem cut nerve of thigh pinched at hip area, and may respond to absence of any tight clothing or belts over waist.  Nerve pain meds might help but have side effects.  Check with doc if get worse.

i just came off a 4 month run with methamphetamine & alcohol.
i have about two weeks sober, in the program & trying to put my life back together & stay clean & sober.

2 months ago i shot meth 3x in arm.
numbness & tingling in my thigh still, why????

Side effects....?: Most likely you are dealing with some type of side effect of your drug use. It could be a side effect related to the drug itself, or to the process of injecting yourself where you could have something like an embolism. Best advice is to have neurologist examine you and see if there are any other minor abnormalities to try and pin down a definitive diagnosis.

Nerve: Tingling is a symptom of nerve compression.  You likely have a degenerative disc that is pressing against the nerve exiting the spinal column. When you open up the disc space by sitting or other position of comfort the impingement of the nerve is released.
Meds help calm down the inflamation and narrow the space. The muscles and spasm /strain can go away with meds, therapy, hands on treatment.

Leg numbness: plus thigh numbness obviates a good neurologic assessment. If its just the thigh tingling that narrows things down to L4 lumbar radiculopathy vs lateral femoral cutaneous nerve compression /entrapment and one would likely see a neurologist to further narrow things down and come up with a management plan. One should first ask "where is the lesion" Brain? (TIA /stroke / migraine, etc) Cord? Nerve?

Tingling : Tingling in the thigh could be caused by a number of problems depending on the exact pattern of the tingling and other related features.  Probably the most common cause of tingling on the anterolateral thigh ("anterolateral" is a medical term meaning roughly "toward the outside of the front") is a condition called meralgia paresthetica.  This is caused by a pinching of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.  This nerve can get pinched in people, like me, who are a bit too generously-proportioned.  It can also get pinched in other ways.  Tingling in a band of skin, associated with a "bubbly" rash, could be shingles.  Other things that might cause tingling in the thigh could include a process affecting the spinal cord or spinal nerve roots.  Some of these things could be serious, so it is a good idea to see a doctor rather than try self-diagnosis.
