why does my entire leg have tingling especially in the thigh area (front and side)?

Leg numbness: plus thigh numbness obviates a good neurologic assessment. If its just the thigh tingling that narrows things down to L4 lumbar radiculopathy vs lateral femoral cutaneous nerve compression /entrapment and one would likely see a neurologist to further narrow things down and come up with a management plan. One should first ask "where is the lesion" Brain? (TIA /stroke / migraine, etc) Cord? Nerve?

Leg tingling: Not sure what the relationship would be between the leg tingling (sciatica?) and the hysterectomy but would suggest seeing a neurologist for an evaluation for possible sciatica.

Rash and tingling: Sounds like a possible case of shingles.  See your Doctor ASAP - Earlier detection and treatment will reduce the chances of long term pain issues in that area.

Difficult to assess: Visualization of the bumps would likely be necessary to determine the true cause, since the symptoms you are describing are not consistent with one over the other.  Herpes lesions are typically blistered or ulcerated (open), while razor burn/folliculitis lesions appear more as red pimples.  Folliculitis however, does not usually cause referred pain, while herpes often does.

Annoying but benign: Sounds like meralgia paresthetica, lateral fem cut nerve of thigh pinched at hip area, and may respond to absence of any tight clothing or belts over waist.  Nerve pain meds might help but have side effects.  Check with doc if get worse.

Wrong question: 'thigh tingling' _is_ a description of a feeling; there is no further definition (except what part of the thigh!). It may be _caused_ by an entrapped sensory nerve that goes under the groin ligament, tightness of nerves in the low spine, and/or tight muscles in the lower abdomen or buttock. Rarely it may be associated with a wider condition of nerves.

Anatomy: Location of your problem is the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve of thigh, and this may be initial manifestation of Meralgia Paresthetica.  If you are overweight or wear tight clothing, addressing one or both may be helpful.  See your doctor if persists.

Time: Time will heal usually.  However try a heating pad and aleve (naproxen) and see it that may help.
