flu-like symptoms, fever, numbness, rash (these vary according to the pathogen transmitted by the tick), confusion, weakness, pain and swelling in the joints, palpitations, paralysis, shortness of breath, nausea and vomiting.

No,you are having an: allergic reaction to the ticks saliva. Put hydrocortisone cream on it. It should get better in next few days. If it does not,see your Dr. If the tick was not attached for 24 hrs, little chance of lyme disease.

dr put me on doxycyl 100mg for rickettsia, tick bite fever. i have bad fevers and chills. my body is aching everywhere as if i have the flu and my eyesight is blurry, i have started having diarrhoea too.i am only on my 3rd dose, should i be worried?

Contact doctor ASAP: Tick borne relapsing fever is not a rickettsial disease, but due to a bacteria called Borrelia. Sometimes TBRF treatment causes a Jarish-Herxheimer reaction when the antibiotic rapidly kills billions of bacteria releasing toxins into the blood, with high fever, chills etc for 1-2 days. If blurry vision means brain involvement, you'll need IV antibiotic. Immediately contact the doctor treating you.

my son has a bite of some sort on his leg.  my husband and i believe it may be a tick bite but are both unsure. should we be worried?

Let me explain: Some ticks transmit bacteria that cause illnesses such as lyme disease or rocky mountain spotted fever. Your risk of contracting one of these diseases depends on where you live or travel to, how much time you spend in wooded areas.
See your doctor if you develop: 
a rash
 a fever
 a stiff neck
 muscle aches
 joint pain and inflammation
 swollen lymph nodes
flu-like symptoms
 light sensitivity

Yes: Tick bites of the eyelid  can be the source pof tick borne infection such as lyme disease and can also become secondarily infected.

Tick bite: Notify your physician. He/she may want to examine you or may be willing to call in a prescription for the appropriate dose of doxycycline. It is too late after the bite for the single dose method to prevent Lyme disease.

Pneumonia: Or other lung diseases will have to be ruled out. It sounds like he had a viral bronchitis, but symptoms should not last more than 1-2 weeks. Would suggest an urgent visit with his doc for an exam and imaging as necessary. Symptoms are not likely to be related to Lyme disease.

True tick bites: are a concern as they can carry infections, so I would get into your doctor and have them removed and evaluated for any possible infection including lyme's disease
