HitchhikinProhibited: Same thing happened to me a while back.Turned out to be jet lag and too much coffee.I thought I was getting Parkinson's.So think about stimulants(coffee, caffeinated sodas,prescriptions), stress(boa constrictor in bathtub), fatigue (physical, mental, like riding your bike a lot worrying about final exams),diet (not enough B vitamins),hangovers- and if it's still there in two weeks,see your doctor

Start Simple: Think of the simple stuff first.like, do you drink a lot of coffee, or tea, or caffeinated soda or energy drinks? Under a lot of stress?Working out too much?Recent injury?Drive long distances?Sleep on that side?Does it happen when the thumb is at rest or under tension? You hitchhike a lot?Any repetitive stress(typing, golfing, biking, or some other"personal"activities)?If none of these, see a doc

i cut the blue vein on the top of my thumb and it hasn't stopped bleeding for a few hours. i feel dizzy, confused and i can't stop shaking. advice?

Vein: You need to put plaster on the cut,force it with anything to stop bleeding,how big is the cut?if the cut is big you must seek medical attention,Maybe you've lost a lot of blood which is causing this dizziness,can you upload a picture of the cut?

i woke up yesterday with my thumb swelling, not on the joint and now the pain is traveling up my arm and to my neck area and im shaking alot?

Plan: Your symptom need doctor's evaluation and may be blood work wth history of your traveling and other medical problems. Be rational.

when my thumb is bent in a certain position it shakes uncontrollably.  the shaking is at its worse when i am typing on my phone with my thumbs.  there is no pain and no shaking at rest. my father has parkinsons. thoughts?

: This could be due to several different things but most likely is possibly that you have trigger finger. This would be more likely if you complained of a locking and catching sensation at times when bending as well. I would have your primary care examine your thumb and the rest of you to evaluate further.

why are my pinky and thumb trembling slightly when at rest. does that mean i have parkinsons? im currently weaning off geodon which is causing tremors but this is at rest? both hands?

: Although drug-induced Parkinsonism can be associated with Geodon, the pattern you describe in your repetitive notes continues to suggest to me that the real problem may be  tardive dyskinesia.  Perhaps consideration for treatment should be accelerated at this point.

i noticed a trembling in my thumb a few hours ago. it doesn't hurt i noticed it when i picked up my tooth brush. does this sound like brain cancer?

No: This sounds like fasciculations. Everybody  gets these in some muscle group of other from time to time. They last briefly then vanish as mysteriously as they arrive. I suspect that a portion of a nerve is temporarily damaged, leaving a bare receptor that then becomes hypersensitive to circulating acetylcholine. What we do know is that what you're describing isn't worrisome.

Essential Tremor: At your age the most likely diagnosis is essential tremor if you are not taking any medications that are causing this. Progressive, mainly symmetric, rhythmic, involuntary oscillation (tremor) of the hands and forearms that is usually absent at rest and present during posture and intentional movements. Essential tremor (et) can also involve the head, jaw, and voice.

Tremors: And shakes have many causes. Muscular, metabolic, neurological  and sometimes just no cause can be found. The differential is huge and can be made worse or more apparent by a concurrent condition . You need to see your primary care provider to start the process of finding out what this involves.

Ulnar nerve. : Could be caffeine or irritation if the ulnar nerve.
