got over my cold 2 weeks ago. cervical nodes still swollen&palpable no pain. doctor says not to worry. can it stay enlarged? when to worry?

Give it time: Lymph nodes can stay swollen for several weeks after an infection. Some infections can cause it to remain that way longer than others. If you start experiencing any new symptoms or if they continue to grow or don't start shrinking over the next few weeks you should see your Dr again. Try not to feel them too often as touching them can irritate the nodes.

i've had swollen submandibular and cervical nodes for over a year- ive had two ultrasounds that favor "reactive" node diagnosis. what does this mean? i've also seen the term "nonspecific lymphadenitis uns" what does this mean also? thank you?

: The job of the lymph nodes is to strain the serum that moves through the tissues outside of the blood vessels. They remove debris and reactive chemicals from bug bites or inflammation. The term 'reactive' just means they have been working. 'Non-specific' is a term than implies no specific cause. Lymphadenitis means the nodes have been enlarged while they work, which is expected.

my submandibular, submental and cervical nodes are feelable. there 1/2 an inch and ive had them for 2 years without change. i also have no infection. are these nodes not swollen since there so small? could they also be feelable due to being slim?

: Ask as often as you wish. These are normal size for nodes at rest. If you know how to feel for them you will find them.

Not diagnostic: Non specific means there are no features found that would suggest a diagnosis. It basically says they are there and that size. Any further assessment must depend on clinical correlation by the treating physician. The study does not suggest lymphoma or list it as a diagnosis to consider. That is determined by the doc who has the history &amp; exam findings.

4 year old son has swollen crevical gland for 4 weeks. oral thrush after 7 days nystatin getting worse. should i be worried?

Follow up w/ his Dr.: You should follow up with his doctor.  Depending on what's already been tested, you may need to have blood tests to see what could be the potential cause of this.  I screening CBC &amp; perhaps a test for the Epstein Barr Virus may be a good starting point, but it depends on his current physical exam and knowing more history than is provided here.

tested neg with hiv1/2 ab lab test 14 wks past possible exposure. man i had the encounter with tested neg with an hiv1/2 ag/ab lab test at 8 wks past encounter. a month after my neg test my cervical nodes began to swell. is it hiv? no other exposure?

: From the data you provided HIV is highly unlikely.  If the HIV test was 4th gen combo test, you do not have HIV.

Possible: Ant type of infection in the mouth can cause this.  However,  have your medical doctor exam you for other signs.

Be checked: With all those symptoms, you may have mono. See your doctor and see if you have multiple diagnoses or if they fit together. All the best.
