i have throat tightness and cough (quality:chronic cough) i smoked for 7 years and quit 2 weeks ago and i'm  afraid of having lung cancer. possible?

Cough: Unlikely. These are common symptoms which occur when you quit and the airway is recovering function, ciliary function, recovering from chronic inflammation. Acute phase is three weeks, Subacute phase is 3 months. Drink a lot of water. Best to get a Chest x-ray

Cold: Sounds most likely a cold.  Flu typically associated with high fever myalgia and cough.  Keep drinking your hot luquids.

Yes: You need to be seen by an ENT specialist,  to examine your upper airways, you probably have some sort of inflammation / lesion that's causing such symptoms whenever irritated,best wishes

Tightness/sore throa: If yo feel tightness in your throat you shuld be checked out. If it affects your swallowing or breathing go to the ed otherwise toalk to your doctor or go see him/her.

Very unlikely: Almost impossible. Cough and fever almost always are present; shortness of breath usually doesn't begin until a few days after onset of cough.

Allergic reaction: This is obviously an allergic reaction that sounds very similar to an asthma attack. I would call my doctor and the child's doctor to discuss this since it sounds like the tobi (tobramycin) neb (probably for cf) is the cause or a contributor to an underlying asthma.

Confusing post: The symptoms mentioned are not specific enough to indicate a cause. I would invest in some Mucinex &amp; drink plenty of fluids. That should help.

PFT: If you were my patient i would consider a full pft including total lung capacity and dlco and/or a methacholine challenge test to determine is asthma or a different obstructive lung disease is present.

Possibly : Symptoms you describe could be allergic reaction or just body’s normal reaction to toxins in smoke from someone not used to it. The tightness in throat and chest is concerning and could be dangerous for you. Stay away from smokers if at all possible or you may have to be evaluated by pulmonary specialist to see if you need some type of protective treatment like inhaler. Act in your best interest.
