Seek cause: If this is male pattern baldness, your choices are medication, surgery, or embracing your masculinity and genetic heritage. 95% of good looks for a man is physical fitness, and where he does and does not have hair is really a non-issue -- ask photoguy. If your loss is due to hypothyroidism, telogen effluvium, or fungus, it's treatable; alopecia areata less so.

See a dermatologist: Decrease stress. Eat a healthy balance diet which includes protein. Have thyroid levels and iron stores checked. See a dermatologist for evaluation and work-up. Topical Minoxidil twice a day is the only proven remedy to thicken hair. However, this treatment it is not appropriate for everyone (given the warnings, precautions, and contraindications). See and discuss options with a dermatologist.

See dermatologist: Hair loss is a young woman is unusual.  It may be seen in malnutrition, hypothyroidism, and some other disorders.  Some medications may cause it.  Rarely it occurs for no detectable reason.  You should consult a dermatologist.

TurnALossIntoAGain: At 22 years you have a good chance to beat this but you need to see a hair specialist for analysis of your hair and hair follicles, plus some other medical stuff, ASAP. You're shedding more than the usual 100-150 hairs a day. I assume by "Y" pattern you meant a "V," which is thinning on each temple area, called "male pattern," for obvious reason. Lotsa causes, lotsa possible cures. See a hair doc!

See a dermatologist: At age 22, you may be experiencing hair loss due to genetics, or anabolic steroid abuse. A more complete approach to your hair loss problem, irregardless of the cause, would be Minoxidil 2.5 mg orally daily, and Proscar 5 mg tablets. You need to quarter the Proscar tablets via a pill cutter from your local pharmacy, and this will equal 1.25 mg of finasteride, i.e. Propecia.

Hard to say: Some infants are born with bald spots that are thought represent pressure of the womb wall against the skin reducing blood flow. These will often have no hair roots &amp; are incapable of ever growing hair. Surgical removal of the spot with a drawing over of hair capable skin is the fix. This &amp; other possibilities require a dermatologist evaluate the issue.

An oral medication, which is a prescription can be taken for this, however, you must continue to take it or the hair will fall out.
You could have different reasons for hair loss-hormonal problems, low ferritins, thyroid levels
