As a reasonable home remedy take otc magnesium. Another reliever of cramping muscles is tonic water: mix with mint , lime and artificial sweetner, of your choice, (1 cup at bed time).

4-6 weeks.: They can be slow to heal, but don't rush it. You could apply an elastic bandage or wear a pull-up sleeve for a little support as it heals.

Yes: It can be normal to have some residual pain in the lower extremity after back surgery. You should notice less intensity in the pain and hopefully less numbness, tingling, weakness, etc. If you notice worsening pain, and changes in bowel/bladder function, worsening numbness/tingling, or other issues, please contact your surgeon.

Yes: Especially if new to yoga.  Or really stretching muscle.  There is some tearing of muscle that occurs. Some bruising is not uncommon.

Should be fine: If u have a choice, go for thigh. It will b sore for few days but in few weeks, u should be fine. Risk of complications is very small.

Muscle spasms: I agree with Dr. S. I also recommend having her checked for deficiencies of calcium, magnesium,sodium or potassium. Until she sees a physician, she could ask her pharmacist to recommend a magnesium supplement for prevention of frequent muscle spasms.

Tear: It could be acute strain or a sprain. Rest and anti inflammatory medication would be effective. Also moist heat compresses may help. Good Luck
