Varies: It varies from person to person somewhat and is a little trial and error.  That being said, most people with flat feet tend to probate their feet and so if you go to a sporting good store and ask to try on several "anti pronation" shoes, you will probably find one that will be a very good fit for you. which is the best aerobic exercise: swimming or running?

Not necessarily a: "best" type of issue.  Each form of exercise has it's advantages and disadvantages.  Swimming is more of a full body workout and lower impact on the joints.  But remember because it's lower impact, it has less  of an effect as running at stimulating bone density.  In the end, both are good forms of exercise, and in an ideal world it's good to involve variety in your exercise routine.

i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, i keep getting told aerobic exercise is the best thing for it. i workout regularly cardio and cybex weight machines and i coach gymnastics 4-8 hours 5 days a week. is it possible it's not fibro at all?

Probably not: It's great you're doing this exercise and it's an excellent treatment for fibromyalgia but you may need other helps as medications.
Check with your doctor whon i sure will be very pleased with your workout.

Low impact: In general i recommend low impact activities such as bicycling or an exercise bike, an elliptical machine, or stairmaster. Swimming is also great.  Remember to also do a lot of stretching to keep your spine loose, yoga and Pilates are great for this.

Removable insoles: Buy a shoe that is really comfortable for you that has removable insoles, since most of the insoles in shoes are junk.  Replace them with (my opinion) spenco polysorb insoles - walker/runner, cross trainer, or total support.

Running would not be: a good choice for exercise. Any impact exercise will cause your DJD to progress faster good/perfect shoes or not. Walking outside or treadmill, not running is a good substitute or swimming even better.

No: Be sure you stay well hydrated when you exercise with pure water or fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. They have pure water and  electrolytes which are good for the kidneys.

Yes: It is a great place to start.  A brisk walk for 45-60 minutes on a regular basis will greatly enhance your weight loss and overall fitness and cardiovascular health.

Wouldn't worry.: That's a minimal change, only one hundredth of a point. I doubt that would be reflective of any real pathology.
