Won't help: No mouthwash will stop or prevent gum recession which often is due to improper toothbrushing  technique. :"total" colgate has been proven to help with gum disease. You shjould go to the dentist and not try to be your own dentist.  You can also get receeded gums from a traumatic bite relationship.  See your dentist.

Enamel Wear: Enamel wear is common with Ehlers Danlos syndrome. If you have extensive breakdown of your teeth most likely you will need crowns to preserve what you have. The gum recession can be treated with what is called a graft. You should get a consult with your primary dentist and may expect referrals to a periodontist and prosthodontist.

Dentist: Start with your dentist first for an exam as I suspect there might be some inflammation/ irritation at baseline that gets worse with the use of mouthwash. Once gum conditions are ruled out, a variety of options, including non alcohol based mouth rinses, can be tried.

i been experiencing bad gum pain. the dentist says its nothing but my gums hurt and i see small red lines like cuts on my lower gum and tartar buildup is there everyday but i take it off or try my best. i use mouthwash and floss regularly too?

: Is it just one area that hurts or does your entire mouth hurt? The cause of your pain needs to be determined so that appropriate treatment can be rendered. If your dentist cannot pinpoint the problem then it may be wise to see a periodontist.

Many brands of both these items are effective.  Common toothpaste brands are colgate, crest, and listerine.  Listerine and scope are common mouthwash brands.
