: Who prescribed this to you? There is no need for urea. If it was prescribed by a physician, then follow their stated directions. Otherwise A thick moisturizing lotion or ointment found over the counter can be helpful.

Dry heel skin: You're on to something using Vaseline. Try scraping or scrubbing off dry hard skin, cover with a thick moisturizing cream or balm (recommended by your pharmacist) and then seal it off with Vaseline.

i have very dry and cracked feet.  tried lotions and creams.  patches of skin are coming off making it painful to walk.  any suggestions?

Lotion often: This is very common. Callusing is a build up of dead skin. As the skin dries out, it shrinks. The tension on the skin, as it shrinks, causes the skin to split. This can split into live skin causing pain and at times, bleeding.  Using a foot cream with urea can be quite helpful. The higher the urea content, the better. We use 40-50% urea in a cream.  If not severe, use a good lotion daily. Dr l.

i'm wearing a splint for my ankle since orif 5 days ago. i wear a fluffy sock over my toes that are exposed. a couple days ago, i noticed my toes are dry, itchy and cracked. reminding me of athlete's foot. can i use antifungal cream on my open toes?

Simplest thing: Would be something like vaseline but then to cover the foot with Saran wrap and put on socks when going to sleep. (not to be walked in). If you can get hold of a 40percent urea cream, that is my preference. Sometimes, a prescription is needed for this. Good luck and good job at taking care of your dad.

When in doubt-Mix.: Mix the Lamisil (terbinafine) with a small amount of topical antibiotic (Neosporin).

May not be fungus: There are several causes of dry and cracked heels, including fungus.  However, dysfunctional glands in the skin can cause it as well and is in fact a more common cause.  There are many prescription creams to help with dry and cracked heels, including antifungal medications if it is caused by fungus.

DRY SKIN FEET & HAND: Try them all. Eucerin, neutrogena, aveeno, (oatmeal) cerave, curel, and a dozen other companies make them there is no best. Everyone is different. What's good for you may not be good for your friends. Good luck!

Dry feet: Yes.  It can be very bad to have dry feet.  Your feet can dry out to the point where they crack open (like the dry desert earth).  When this happens there can be open sores.  Open sores on your feet are never good due to the fact that there is a high potential for infection.  Do the easy thing and use hydrating lotion daily especially after getting feet wet.  Cocoa butter daily can do wonders.
