Should be sure.: I don't know that this would be a "dead testicle", especially with the pain just stopping so quickly, but you should get an immediate evaluation, including a testicular ultrasound, to really know what's going on there.

testicular pain: You may have scar tissue from the fixation of the testicle. Have an examination by a urologist to rule out other problems.

: The general rule is not to eat or drink anything after midnight the day prior to surgery. Your usual meals would be okay unless the doctors told you specific things to avoid, but I know of none.

Surgical emergency : You need to go to an emergency department now if you think you have testicular torsion. This is a surgical emergency.

: If not removed gangrene , an infection, can set in and be  life threatening. Note after more than 12 hours of torsion the testicle is very likely infarcted and not functioning ( more than 75%) and it is unlikely that function can ever be restored. Cosmetically you can get a prosthesis.

: By UPTODATE: 1 in 4000 in males younger than 25 years old. Approximately 65 percent of cases occur in boys between the ages of 12 and 18 years. 
By PUBMED: about 1/3 will need orchiectomy. Among those undergoing surgical intervention, orchiectomy was performed in 33.6%. The risk of orchiectomy was highest in patients 1-11 years of age (46%) and patients over 50 years of age (69.7%).

: This could be due to medications you are taking, especially for pain. Once you stop taking these medications, everything should return to normal. If it doesn’t, then see your primary physician to find out the etiology of your symptoms and to get treatment.
