Yes: Trich has nothing to do with your cycles, if you have trich please make sure you get retested after treatment as some can be resistant and may need retreatment.

Pregnancy test: If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine,

Not really: Trichomoniaisis can affect bleeding, but not the cycle.  You should still cycle and have uour period regardless of the trich and regardless of breakthrough bleeding that can occur.

Accepted Answer

NO!: Trichomoniasis (or "trich") is a sexually acquired infection. This infection requires antibiotics for both you and your partner in order to cure the infection.  In addition, I strongly recommend additional STD testing since having one type can increase your risk of having a different one. Please see your doctor right away, and refrain from sex until both you and your partner are treated.

i had a wet mount done during my period to find bv would it have shown trich too?

Yes: If you have an acute infection, they'd be there, though the little swimmers are much harder to see. Trichomonas infects a couple and if there is reason to think they are infected, both need to be treated.

two weeks after taking flagyl for trich and my discharge still smells - also my period is 4 days late - will the bacteria affect a pregnancy test?

Trichomonas treated?: Two major factors need to be addressed: 1) if you took all the medicine (metronidazole) as prescribed, and by the way pills are better than cream 2) did you get re-infected by your partner who may not have been treated? Although possible, resistance is rare (5 to 15% at most). Best to go back to your gyn and ask for help. The infection itself won't affect pregnancy test results.

: Chlamydia, gonorrhea and maybe M. genitalium can cause vaginal bleeding (but not trichomonas), but you are correct that having no other symptoms makes them less likely. Also, STI related bleeding usually is scant, not like a menstrual period. Any new or unexplained vaginal bleeding needs professional attention, so get care soon (including STI testing, since your question suggests you're at risk).

: No, trichomonas is not known to cause these problems. However, gonorrhea, chlamydia and perhaps other STDs are much more common in women with trichomonas, and these certainly can cause Fallopian tube infection (pelvic inflammatory disease or PID) that can result in infertility. Get checked for all of them; and prevent future STDs by having only one partner who has sex with nobody else. Good luck.

See your MD for Dx: If you are still having symptoms there may be a different infection going on and thus you should have a physical examination with culture as appropriate. See your doctor ASAP to get this done. If you cant get in right away, contact Planned Parenthood. We need the right diagnosis to provide the correct treatment.

i tested positive for trich & chlymida and he tested neg ? how is this possible i have not been with any one for 4 years and my son is 2 years old

Accepted Answer

Labs: These labs aren't 100% -- more reliable tests exists but are prohibitively expensive. If you're symptomatic, best both get treated if this is the recommendation.
