No: the Tetanus shot you received wasn't meant to treat the dog bite, rather to catch up on your late immunization schedule. If your doctor was suspicious of tetanus infection, yes s/he would have given you Tetanus immune globulin, which gives best results if given within the first 24 hrs, all the best

I wuld see my Dr.!: Dog bites do not transmit tetanus. However a number off significant bacteria in the mouth of the dog can cause your would to fester and become seriously infected. Generic Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 875mg two times daily is the  treatment of choice, once you thoroughly clean the would. (by the way - a human bite is much more likely to cause infection!)  be safe-see your doctor: rabies is also a more serious issue!

i have a puncture wound from a dog bite. but i am allergic to tetanus shots. so would tetracycline antibiotics be an acceptable alternative to prevent?

No: Antibiotics aren't used for prevention, they are used to treat active tetanus infection, and tetracycline isn't the first choice. Given your conditio, you should be seen by your doctor or go to ER, you need rabies prophylaxis too, if the dog isn't known to you or not itself immunized.Tetanus shot true allergy is very rare, it might only be a side effect, see an allergist and get the shot, goodluck
