See details: Try the simple things first. These include warm soaks, buying a wrist splint and using it especially overnight and  antiinflammatory meds such as Aleve or Advil. If it persists you may need a more detailed evaluation and a cortisone injection of the tendon. See an orthopedist.

developed tendinitis in my wrist. i rested as best as i could for 3 wks and as soon as i went back to my normal job it came  back. any advise ?

Someone: with "ERGONOMIC" experience needs to LOOK AT YOUR JOB!   Some stress on your wrist(s) may be causing the recurrent problem!!!

Depends: Where the tendinitis is. Could be treated by injection, PT, bracing or steroids or a combination of all depending on where the pain is in your wrist.

Several options: Physical medicine and rehabilitation PMR docs are trained in non surgical approaches, while orthopedic surgeons are trained in both surgical and non surgical methods. Sounds like you are still aggravating your wrist with activity. Learning ergonomic ways to perform tasks without re injury will be important to resolve these issues. Good luck

Rheumatologist: I recommend an evaluation by a rheumatologist for diagnosis and treatment.  People who have taken fluoroquinalone antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or levaquin have had problems with tendonitis and Achilles rupture.

Surgery?: May need a surgical procedure and/or physical therapy. Best to see a hand surgeon for a more complete evaluation. You can then make a more informed decision about what to do. Hand disablity: Disability decisions are occupational, condition  or illness related  and diagnosis specific. There are many factors. Some who i operate on are back to work in a day or two, others with certain job specific needs take a lot longer.

Its a discussion to have with your surgeon before surgery.

Exercise or therapy: Tendonitis of the wrist just like in other joints can be difficult to treat. You are correct that exercise is helpful in treating tendonitis but you may benefit more from physical therapy so you do the exercises correctly and do not make the condition worse. See a physician possible an orthopedist or rheumatologist and then have a treatment plan. Good luck

Ice: The term tendinitis refers to an inflammatory condition of the tendon.  Heat draws blood flow and inflammatory cells to an area, cold application reduces inflammation.  Therefore, heat can make an inflammatory condition worse, cold can make it better.  Thank you for your question.

: If you are experiencing increased pain when using your wrist/hand at work, then you may need to take some time off to recuperate. What did the doctor who diagnosed your tendinitis say about working? If you experience no increased pain while using your wrist at work, then it is likely ok to continue. But, the doctor who made the diagnosis and examined you would know for sure whether you should work
