Get seen: It would be uncommon at your age, but if you are concerned, get checked by your physician. You may have any of several other entities. Temporal arteritis is tricky because it can blind a patient, though thankfully this isn't common.

Migraines?: You may be experiencing a migraine. You can try Excedrin migraine (contains aspirin, acetaminophen, caffeine). There are other prescription meds that might also help.

Muscle pain: You may have an issue with your tmj, back of the neck or bite.   Often issues in these areas can present as pain in the temporal area.   See a doctor that knows about head and neck pain.  Message therapy will also be beneficial.

Good question: Temporal arteritis is rare in young adults. Sometimes TMJ presents with sharp pains in the temple. I'd have this situation looked into. You need a good assessment including a careful look at the back of the eye and a TMJ assessment. If the temporal artery is nodular or tender you need to have a blood test right away (CRP or Sed Rate).

Tension Headache: If the area of the skin is tender to the touch, then there is a muscle contraction underneath.  This is a tension headache.  Any headache can trigger a vascular headache or migraine.
