Nothing!!!: There are no medications that will definitively "cure"congestion. Etiology is usually viral or allergic and treatment is usually fluids, making the child comfortable (with a cold). You can also try a decongestant but that, like tylenol, (acetaminophen) is only for symptomatic relief--meaning that the congestion will return when the decongestant wears off. An antihistamine can be used if allergy is the cause.

Moisture: If you want to avoid medications, try to maintain good nasal health by using saline irrigations and keeping an appropriate moisture level in the air you breathe.  Unfortunately, this won't help if you have a physical issue blocking the drainage of your sinuses.  Finally, make sure that the problem really is sinus-related and not another kind of headache.

Other options: Nasal saline rinse is primarily helpful in clearing mucous, pollen, dust and helps with dryness. If you are congested due to allergies, use a nasal steroid preparation like fluticasone that you can use once or twice a day and is safe. If the sinuses are congested, you could try oxymethazoline but use only up to 3 days per week, beyond that, can produce rebound congestion

Viral infection: Good question.  But sinus infection or congestion of the paranasal sinuses does not cause ear infections.  They may be related in that the cause of the paranasal sinus infection (assuming it is not nasal allergy) and the middle ear may be infected by the same virus.  98% of upper respiratory infections are viral and no antibiotic is indicated for a minimum of a week and a maximum of 10 days.

Try mist: Mucinex (guaifenesin) is an expectorant - it helps loosen chest congestion, but in my opinion will not help your sinuses.
Inhaled warm mist would be helpful as would a nettie pot and sinus rinse.

Ear infection: Those symptoms you describe are worrisome for an infection in the ears, which in the context of a bad cold is common. Ears not only let us to listen but they also coordinate with eyes and brain to maintain balance and let us have a sense of location. You should visit a doctor, because this probably needs to be treated with antibiotics
