is it normal to feel a sharp pain when a healing cut on my knee rubs against the fabric or is exposed to pressure? the cut is from falling on the sidewalk and scraping my knee against the rough pavement. does the pain indicate that my cut is infected

Accepted Answer

You most likely: damaged some superficial (tiny) NERVES when you fell! This has resulted in what is called "hyperesthesia" and will subside as the nerves heal...(they take longer to heal than your skin (weeks-months) but eventually they will heal or "die" leaving you with an area of numbness!

Warmth  & swallowing: Tea, when used for symptomatic relief of a sore throat, exposes the throat to warmth but also is beneficial because of the oils found in tea, namely tannin.  The mechanical act of swallowing also cleanses the throat naturally.

No, scars are normal: Scars  are the result of healing, without scars we would have holes.

Accepted Answer

Colic: Colic  is quite common in babies from 2 weeks to 3 months of age. There are many house hold remedies. I am more familiar with camomile tea. Others used often are Humphrey 3 a homeopathic medicine, simethicone oral drops, pacifiers, swaddling, pressing baby's thighs against the baby's tummy etc. if worried see pediatrician. can you get hives from drinking tea? any suggestions for what hives come form?

Antihistamines: Tea would be an unusual trigger for hives.  Acute hives come from food or drug allergy, insect bites and sometimes viral infections.  Hives that last longer than 6 weeks can be "autoimmune" where body seems to react against itself, physical (cold, heat, pressure, etc) or unknown. Best treatment is antihistamines such as claritin, (loratadine) zyrtec, or Allegra which don't cause much drowsiness.

what is the best way to use tea tree oil as a scalp treatment?

Accepted Answer

Tea tree oil: Pt depends on the form of tea tree oil and how dry or oily your skin is. You can apply after shampoo and leave it. Or, prior to shampoo leave on for 5-10 min and wash out.

can taking ginger tea regularly everyday  in addition to ppi treatment be helpful in treatment of chronic gastritis and acid reflux?

Accepted Answer

: Green tea can irritate the stomach and make it worse. The question I always ask is, it the patient's self-report of a diagnosis correct?, How do you know you have gastritis? See a doctor.

is peppermint tea an effective treatment for irritable bowel syndrome?

Accepted Answer

Can help cramps, but: Peppermint tea can decrease muscle contractions in the gut.  May help with spasm in bowel. Can decrease muscle contractions in lower esophageal aphincter which could increase reflux (back flow), and heartburn symptoms.
Enteric coated peppermint oil may be helpful as an adjunct rx.
If that is all it takes to control symptoms in ibs, cool. 
See your doc, be sure it's ibs, you're treating.

i take 9/10 chose of coffee and tea daily.i broke tibia fibula&had intramedullary nailing a month ago.will tea/coffee hamper bone healing?

Tibia fx: It is unlikely that coffee will inhibit healing i would however increase my calcium and vit d.
