Only one mumps: Parotitis , the single or doublesided swelling of the parotid gland is the classical feature of mumps. There is one mumps virus. However, there are multiple other viruses and some bacteria that can cause infection/swelling in the parotid glands. Just having swollen parotid glands does not mean you have mumps.

good afternoon - i currently have mumps virus and have been to the doctor, but i also have gotten some staph infections in my nose and under my arms. i have nasepetin and fucidin, is there anything else i can do to help with the staph.  ?

Mupirocin alt: Continue the creams as prescribed three times daily. Leave time for each to absorb prior to the next application of cream. Cleanse the skin well and avoid irritation to the area. Monitor for fever and cough. Please follow up with your PCP.

Once in medical care atest is performed called a pcr test that takes 6-8 hours for results.  This is an accurate test. If positive you would be admitted for hospital care.  This means an isolation unit to limit the spread to others as you receive Care

Interferon: This will not have harmed you, but you should definitely go and be tested to see if you have hepatitis c and whether there may be a need for treatment. 
This is a very serious illness.
