Helps depression.: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is an antidepressant and is a serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It helps with major depression especially with an associated chronic pain.  Nortriptyline has a similar mechanism of action except that it is a tricyclic antidepressant. If you're taking both,  that maybe the reason that Cymbalta (duloxetine) is dosed at a low dose.

Maybe: I have patients that take it at either time with benefit. It is traditionally taken in the morning do peak levels of the drug occur during the day.

Cymbalta (duloxetine) brain zaps: Usually 1 week but be up to 2 weeks patients are unaware of how hard it can be to manage the painful process of discontinuing Cymbalta (duloxetine)  may involve withdrawal symptoms that last longer than most drugs and cause complications like dizziness, tunnel vision and brain zaps. SSRI discontinuation syndrome, a syndrome that can occur following the interruption, dose reduction, or discontinuation

I : I suggest to taper it over several days to avoid a risk of discontinuation syndrome. Please read my earlier post on that topic -  the link is below.

taking trip to east from west coast in us, on cymbalta (duloxetine). how will my med times change? do i take at 5 pm instead of 8?

Not necessary: It is not necessary to change administration times for medications for such a sort distance. If you normally take it at 8pm, just go ahead and take it at 8pm. It builds up blood levels so a 3 hour difference will not matter.

Cymbalta (duloxetine) weight gain: Cymbalta (duloxetine) can cause weight gain in several different ways. It can increase your appetite, reduce your sense of satiety when you eat, induce sedation you then attempt to manage by eating more, or improve a depression that caused you to initially lose weight. Your weight loss will depend on why you gained weight. For example, if it was from battling sedation, you can begin to lose weight immediately.

No.: Your body does not become immune to any medication.  Sometimes for unknown reasons people with fibromyalgia lose their responsiveness to a specific medication and benefit from a switch in therapy.

tardivesyndrome or getting a motor disorder?

Not a real risk: Tardive dyskinesia is associated with chronic usage of major tranquilizers, such as Seroquel or phenothiazines.  Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a variety of an SSNRI, and these drugs do not usually have any adverse motoric consequences.

: That is not a good idea. Discuss a taper schedule with your primary care physician or psychiatrist.

Accepted Answer

Just started: It's possible headaches are a side effect. However, unless they are severe i'd continue for a few days and they may go away. If you stop and they persist follow up on this symptom and make sure there's no other cause.
It may be an error to assume that the headaches and Cymbalta (duloxetine) are connected.
