hi i constantly have this intense pain on my left side. the muscles under my arm and down my side pulls stiff resulting in my arm being lame and immovable, and i feel faint. only when i take muscle relaxants the pain simmers down and eventually goes ?

Left side pain: Would check for  reflux with or without H pylori. Would also  do CXR to check for lesion in lungs / chest and mammogram.  f/u/ w/ doc

No but: Steroid reduces the inflammation and this may indirectly reduces the muscle spasm.  Botox by far provides the longest duration of muscle relaxation.

i was given diclofenac for rigid muscles, spasms and soreness. can you confirm that it has muscle relaxant properties or not?

Muscles: Diclofenac is an anti-inflammatory, not a muscle relaxant. It may help reduce muscle soreness, achy joints, and arthritis. Muscle relaxants have different properties and potential for sedation.

generally speaking is it possible that a muscle relaxant like baclofen could be helpful at a lower dose but then at a higher dose actually have the opposote effect by weakening muscles instead of just helping with pain and spasticity?

: High dose baclofen can cause weakness, especially if delivered via a Baclofen Pump.  Often low dose oral baclofen is helpful and better tolerated than higher levels.  Suggest you and your doctor titrate upwards or downwards to achieve best outcome with minimal adverse effects.

Please talk to: Your doctor for help getting off flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl). Stopping cold turkey can be hard, & possibly dangerous. Valerian probably won't help much, & it's safety isn't assured.

Other things first: Before you try taking a prescription muscle relaxer with many side effects, try magnesium supplements that you can buy at the drugstore.

Rib pain: Your pain may be due to intercostal neuralgia, which is an inflammtion of the nerve running under the nerve. If pain persists despite Ibuprofen you might need anerve block.

i've been prescribed clonazepam (2mg, muscle relaxant) for many years and i need to get off because of deteriorating health. what specialist would be best ? a different doctor answered 'a psychiatrist' but in my experience most don't have a clue.

It is a med that U-: -need to wean your self off of. Gradually decrease the dose over a month and your body will no longer crave it. By that I mean it's a med that is addicting for your body and withdrawal will happen if suddenly stopped. This should be a done under the care of your treating physician.
