Back pain and UTI: If your back pain is actually due to a UTI you should not be taking Nitrofurantoin since you probably have an upper tract infection. You really need to be fully evaluated by a doctor familiar with utis (infectious disease expert, urologist, nephrologist) and if not due to UTI your back pain also needs to be assessed differently.

im taking uti medicine cefpodoxime pro 200mg one table twice daily for 5 days. i have 3 more days to go and started having period cramps. can i take advil along with this. i usually take 200mg advil every 6-8 hours. or can i take tylenol?

: No known drug-drug interactions and both Tylenol and Advil are commonly used in infections for symptom control along with antibiotics. Drug specific side effects still apply.

Meds in Pregnancy: Most antibiotics can be safely used in pregnancy.  Both your doctor and your pharmacist are there on the front line to make sure you do not take anything that could be harmful.

Now: You can have it anytime now. As soon as implantation occurs the bhcg levels start to rise. See your doctor and, just in case, start taking Folic Acid supplements.

: Since "Plan B" is not 100 % protective against pregnancy, if your period is delayed over a week, obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.  You should have an exam from your GYN physician secondary to the sexual assault, to make certain there is no STD conveyed, and/or report this to the authorities for guidance.

i am 23 years old. i have the iud paragard and am sexually active i am having frequent urination and don't have a uti. my period is due the first week of april. since my last period i have had one day where there was spotting. i did take a home pregnancy

If : If a patient continued to have frequent urination, or had burning with urination, flank pain, fever, or vomiting, then they may have a uti.  Frequent urination can be caused by pressure on the uterus from pregnancy, so if there is suspicion, even if there was a negative pregnancy test, then repeating a test would be reasonable.  Rarely, elevated blood sugar can cause increased urination, so if it continued or the patient had markedly increased thirst or dehydration, then the blood sugar should be checked; again that would be very rare.

: You did not tell us when did your period start after taking plan B because blood from menses can contaminate the urine. However, if other symptoms of cystitis resolve, only pink urine or urine with streaked blood remains, you should be fine after 5 days of nitrofurantoin.
