Depo is long acting: It may be 6-8 months before your normal cycle returns. This is common and normal with use of this long acting contraceptive method. The key is to be patient and not to worry until 8 months. Please use alternate birth control or you may find yourself pregnant if you are sexually active. The birth control effect is only trustworthy for 3 months.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Clarification is: Needed . When was your last menstrual period . You are age 43  and are you having menopausal symptoms . If that is the case it is difficult to tell since the level of hormones are waning waxing

Normal range: A normal cycle can be 19- 45days apart and last 3-7 days. If you are trying to conceive I suggest you discuss with your doctor

Depo related bleed: It will go back to normal assuming the bleeding isn't associated with a current pregnancy.  Your bleeding has lasted long enough that  a gynecologist should be able to intervene and use hormones or the birth control pill to get it under control.

When it was due : You stopped it when you didn't have your shot. You had it in your system in therapeutic levels until then.
