Syrinx: Unusual but yes it can happen. It really depends on the size of the syrinx, the smaller and shorter ones this would be quite unusual - in the larger and longer ones this would be more typical but still unusual.

Generally No : Genitofemoral nerve block is a peripheral nerve and it's innervation (where it gets it's feeling from)  is at the L1 and L2 spinal nerve levels.  Typically the block is done at the peripheral level in the lower abdomen/pelvic area next to the pubic bone.  Sometimes when this technique provides short term benefit, another injection may be performed at the spinal nerve levels to get relief.

Yes: You should make sure they did an MRI with contrast to exclude a mass and scan your brain to exclude a chiari malformation.

Thats less than : 1/4 of an inch... But... Still a syrinx needs imaging followup and clinical followup.  Does your child have a arnold chiari malformation - which commonly can have a benign associated syrinx.

Syringomyelia: It is important to determine the cause of the syringomyelia. It is better to treat the cause or drain the syrinx rather than cover up the pain with cortisone shots. See a neurosurgeon for evaluation and counseling for the best treatment.

Depends: Depends in part on the nature and cause of your symptoms.  If you are having unexplained neurological symptoms, ideally they would be accurately diagnosed before you undergoing any interventional procedures that involve the spine.

what can cause persistent debilitating dizziness for 2 months? it is brought on by activity. brain mri was normal in sept 22. spinal mri shows minor findings as well as herniated disc at c4 - c5. small syrinx below the disc. muscle fatigue also?
