There are none: Synthroid (thyroxine) is a man-made replacement for your own thryroid hormone. There are no side effects per se because the drug will bind to the same receptors that your thyroid hormone binds to so the body does not use the drug as a synthetic. It is possible to take too much Synthroid (thyroxine) and then have effects of excess thyroid like rapid heart beat.

Thyroid treatment: 25 mcg of levothyroxine is a very low dose; a normal dose for hypothyroidism is typically much higher.  The only side effect is taking too much (hyperthyroidism:  palpitations, sweating, tremor, etc) or not taking enough (hypothyroid:  fatigue, cold, etc).  But such symptoms can be from other things.  You need to get levels checked and talk to the doctor who initially prescribed this.

Mild if any symptoms: Synthroid (thyroxine) replaces hormone normally made by your thyroid.  It helps maintain body heat, metabolism, energy.  Stopping medicine for a a few days may make you mildly fatigued, a bit sensitive to cold, and less hungry, but should not cause serious symptoms.  Some people don't even notice the difference especially in warm weather.

Overdose: Call poison control right now. They will calculate how much he got according to his weight and they will tell you what you need to do and what symptoms he/she may have. Any time your child takes medications not prescribed for him/her always call poison control right away. The number should be in the front of your phone book.

Hyper: Yes, it is true. Your doctor must check your synthroid dose regularly - perhaps every 8-12 weeks!

we discussed this because my t4 sometimes is off and i have been fatigue. is there any side effects i will feel with the change.  thyroidectomy. nervous?

Relax: The two meds are the same thing at the same dose. One may be labeled differently or be a generic. It is confusing why you think your meds were really changed. Please clarify this with your doc.

What side effects?: Hi. The only "side effects" would be if the l-thyroxine dose isn't right. L-thyroxine is the hormone the human thyroid gland secretes. The thyroid and its treatment gets blamed for more stuff it has nothing to do with than any other hormone system in the body. Be cautious in assigning blame to l-thyroxine...you're probably incorrect in your assessment. Any thyroid hormone prep can be used instead.

Slow decline: This leads to subtle changes in metabolism and physical symptoms that may change so slowly you are not aware of them. Temperature sensitivity, changing energy levels, weight gain, constipation, etc.A blood test would likely show your brain sending out messages to turn on your non-working thyroid.

Did I understand?: Do you mean you developed symptoms when you didn't take synthroid (thyroxine)?  This is possible, but not likely if you just miss a few doses.
