Palpitations flushin: Most people make adrenaline appropriately, eg.Psychic or physical stress. Palpitations, sweating, etc.   A rare condition is pheochromocytoma, where your adrenal puts out too much adrenaline constantly. Hypertension, often with "spells" of flushing, sweats, palpitations.  Stroke or heart attack can occur.  Urine and/or blood tests are needed.  Beware: adrenals often have benign, incidental lumps.

Not likely: Heart may be damaged by prolonged episodes of tachycardia or fast atrial fibrillation and not by occasional episodes of fast heart rate
. Broken heart syndrome (takotsubo's  cardiomyopathy) usually happen in elderly females under heavy stress. Be sure that anxiety and panic attacks are not clouding your clinical picture.

Anxiety possible: Tachycardia, result of generalized anxiety disorder,  is not a sign of heart disease. Accelerated heartbeat can continue for extended period of time without damage.Tachycardia, high resting heart rate (commonly 100+ BPM) This can occur when anxiety. Anxiety is often accompanied by tachycardia and excessive sweating. Anxiety disorders are twice as common in females as males.See Dr. for exam and Rx.

An endocrinologist: B"sd It is essential to define the nature and source of the excess "adrenaline", which usually refers to normetanephrine (NE) and less commonly but much more dangerous epinephrine (E).  Metoprolol is a selective beta blocker which can counter the effects of excess NE. However, E is both beta and alpha.  In conditions of E excess metoprolol can result in paradoxical severe hypertension emergency

Symptoms : I suggest you start with a clinic visit to a Gynecologist. She will take your full history, examine you, and order laboratory tests. Propranolol: If Effexor (venlafaxine) isn't helping you, fire it and try something else. Propranolol is very effective for blunting adrenaline triggered tachyardia. The dose ranges from 60 to 240 mg daily and can be given as a single long-acting capsule.

: My first rule out would be you are hyperthyroid.  Have you been tested for that.  Did Dr feel your thyroid. Discuss with them.
