Swelling of neck and if it is very big it may cause difficulty in swallowing and if it is toxic goiter it may give bulging eyeballs, tremors, weight loss, rapid heart beat and palpitation, heat intolerance.
Ang if it is associated with hypothyroidism it will cause sluggishness, weight gain, cold intolerance, dry skin and depression.

A 'goiter' means a diffusely enlarged thyroid gland and there are a number of causes.  There may be no symptoms or the vague sense of neck tightness.  Best for you to see your primary care physician to start, and then perhaps an endocrinologist.  Surgeons get involved only when necessary.

The goiter would be a late stage development in this process as the gland increases in size to try making hormone that requires it.Chronic fatigue, increased hot/cold sensitivity,slowed growth, weight gain would likely precede it.It is hard to avoid iodine in the USA where it is added to salt purchased in stores or in processed foods. Blood iodine levels can be checked if deficiency is suspected.

If your body makes antibodies against your own thyroid( like being allergic to yourself ) you can get a goiter to. It is a big like knot in the center of your neck and should not be painful. Usually the medication needed is thyroid supplementation

If you do have hashimoto thyroiditis, no diet change will help, as it is an autoimmune problem. No diet change with any thyroid problem except for those that are associated with iodine deficiency is needed.

I'm not clear what all of your code letters are, people with Hashimoto's thyroiditis have antibodies against thyroid tissue. You need an evaluation to see if these antibodies have affected the thyroid gland. Sometimes in this setting you can have an underactive thyroid and other times you can have an overactive thyroid. An evaluation by your physician or endocrinologist to help clarify your issues

10 days is too long for a common cold.  You might have a more serious condition such as pneumonia.
