PPMS -Oral Symptoms: Good day;
   Primary progressive MS would certainly cause extreme stress with subsequent clenching of the jaw and tooth grinding. Would prescribe  soft occlusal guard to relax jaw muscles and occlusal equilibration (bite adjustment) to keep occlusal scheme even.

Bruxism: Teeth grinding, called bruxism, is a common sleep disorder that is not related to sleep apnea.  There seems to be a link to stress during the day. Absent other symptoms, a sleep recording is not necessary. Instead, talk to your dentist. They are in the best position to determine whether damage is being done to your teeth. If so, they can provide a tooth guard to wear at night.

Should help.: The nightguard may not prevent you from clenching, but will keep your  TMJ in proper alignment while you clench.  In that sense, TMJ symptomatology should be reduced overall.

Nightguard is best: If you are doing it during the daytime, like when you are driving, then you can break this habit by becoming aware of when you are doing it.
Decreasing stress in your life will decrease clenching.
You can't stop nighttime clenching but you will protect your teeth and TMJ by wearing a night guard.  This is very important to wear. See a dentist about this.

Lots: Clenching can be a result of  tension or stress, sinus issues, a possible toothache or just a plain old habit you developed.   if you are getting headaches or tooth damage from your clenching then go to your dentist and get a bite guard made just for you.   They can be $$$ so there are over-the-counter  ones, but they're not as good and they do work.

Clenching: Sometime one will have headaches or facial  pain.  The teeth can be sensitive or  chip or break.  The tongue may be sore.  But many times one does not know they are clenching or grinding their teeth during the night. But your dentist can see signs.
