can symbicort 400 mg make u dependent on drug or you can come off it and it wont effect your lungs?does it do long term damage as i only use it for allergies dust mites as it feels tight in airways when i stop taking it i fell tight again in chest.

Some basics: The value of inhaled steroids is it targets the drug action on the very lung tissues which need it without leaving muck to enter the blood. It does not have the same dependency issues as oral steroid pills. If you truly feel tight when off the med you likely have mild asthma &amp; this keeps it in control. Many mild forms called cough variant asthma are never definitively labeled.

mother (60) breathing difficult. x-ray clear.allergy and shortness in breath in lungs since a year & dont know why. uses symbicort 320 but of no use. dr advices to use omron u100nebulizer. what to do as well? her condition worsens daily.help please?

: I strongly recommend that your mother be evaluated for cardiac as well as pulmonary.pathology. I assume she's not significantly anemic. I would start with a workup by a pulmonologist so that all appropriate testing will be carried out. If no pulmonary cause is found, consult a cardiologist. If her breathing difficulties are at rest but not with exertion, anxiety could be a cause of her distress

Regular medication: If you have cold symptoms it is more important than ever to take your regularly scheduled allergy/asthma medication.    Delsym and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may be taken at the same time but if not helping, please call your doctor and discuss which part of your asthma action plan should be used.

is it safe to take benadryl (diphenhydramine) with cymbacort , i have copd and  mild asthma but am having some allergy symptoms right now?i also use rescue inhaler

It is safe: It is safe to use an antihistamine with the inhaled steroid. Occasional use of a rescue inhaler is safe. If you are needing it on a more frequent basis then check with your doctor. Allergy symptoms often times respond to Benadryl (diphenhydramine) which may help your lung condition also. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns.

: For acute attacks, you need your rescue inhaler eg albutetol, Proventil, Ventolin HFA. Symbicort is for maintenance therapy.

i usually take my symbicort inhaler at twice 3pm and then 3am. missed it today and took it at 7pm. do i have to take it at 7am now?

Not necessarily...: ...however, why were you told to wake up at 3am?  If it is because you are night shift worker, then I understand.  But if not, you may consider rotating to a more tolerable schedule, such as 7am and 7pm.  But if you want to remain 3pm and 3am, you do not have to wait until 7.  Taking Symbicort again within 8 hours won't hurt if done this one time.

Not recommended: Not recommended Because BREO and Symbicort are just different versions of the same combinations of two medications .
A corticosteroid ( Cortizone type medication )and a long acting beta agonist. Taking both at the same time will double Dose of both these medications. Follow your doctor’s instructions in general Recommendations take one of these inhalers not both to avoid talking  an excess of both
