Yes it can: Herpes is a virus that can infect the eye causing a variety of symptoms: red eye, drainage, blurring, light sensitivity, pain. But bacterial infections, dry eye,  eyelid malposition, blepharitis, ocular inflammation, and allergies can cause the same symptoms. So it's best to have your ophthalmologist take a look. You need to be properly diagnosed so you can start treating the condition.

Allergies : Allergies cause swollen eyelids. Cold compress can relieve the swelling.   Over-the-counter allergy medicine, such as loratidine (claritin) & eyedrops help relieve it. Zaditor (ketotifen) is a good eye drop for itching.  If it persists or gets worse go to your doctor. It could also be other problems.

No it will not but: This is not a normal reaction to getting shots, bur very rarely some infants can get an acute allergic reaction which may start with swelling of the eyes and may lead to anaphylaxis.It is written as a side effect but in 48 years of giving shots to babies, children of all ages and adults I have never encoutered that and I do not worry about it when i give vaccine shots to my patients.

It depends on...: If it is the corner near the nose it could be an infection or blockage of the lacrimal sac.  This is most likely if you have tearing or marked pain. This should be evaluated asap. You could also have an infection called angular blepharitis or a blockage of a meibomian gland called a chalazion.  If it persists you should see an ophthalmologist.

Black eye!: Black eyes comes from a broken blood vessel.  The causes are many, from trauma, thin blood (aspirin, ibuprofen, coumadin, (warfarin) ...) to other systemic causes such as liver dysfunction and lymphomas.  At age 27, it is very unusual and you should see an internist with a good systemic work-up.
