Mgt/workup: I would recommend an evaluation for TB. A chest radiograph and possibly cultures are indicated.

When you have chickenpox, there also are lymph nodes which enlarge, but in six weeks should return to normal.

Yes: all unresloved infections over time could either drain or evolve  or both.  Infections with third molars could drain inferiorly  to the lymph nodes, or to the tongue, superiorly to the ear, or evolve into a cancerous focus.

Swollen glands: If the swollen glands are in setting of a head and neck infection such as ear, sinus or throat, then they will resolve as the bacterial or viral (mono)infection is treated. Otherwise you may need a biopsy to exclude neoplastic growth. Given the tenderness you likely have an infection and need to be seen by your doctor to make a diagnosis and possibly start you on appropriate treatment.

: No STD is a likely cause of these symptoms. You caught a cold. But if you have been at risk for STDs (new partner, non-monogamous, etc), you should be tested from time to time, regardless of symptoms.

Lymph nodes in these: Areas carry lymph from the scalp and ears. Since it is on both sides, assuming that your ears are ok, check your scalp. If you have psoriasis, eczema or lesions on your scalp, or a reaction to a shampoo it could cause this. If you are having an ear problem see an ENT or your family doctor. For a scalp or skin problem see a dermatologist or your family doctor.

That they work: Lymph nodes are little serum strainers that specialize in removing debris from the clear body serum. They enlarge when they are active and shrink back to resting size when quiet,Bug bites, viruses, regional infection, skin rashes are part of what triggers these to grow and shrink over weeks/months. Detection is easier over the head where they are not buried in muscle or fat.

Open eustachian tube: Possible eustachian tube disfunction, try antihistamines , decongestants or possibly nasal sprays  if increased swelling and pain , get eveluation.

Parotid nodes: The major sites of node involvement in the H&amp;N area are related to the jugular nodes.  If not of primary lymphomatous origin the nodes are metastatic usually from thyroid  or oral squamous lesions metastatic to neck. In the area between ear and jaw the parotid is a major structure with multiple nodes  either metastatic from cutaneous regions or from a primary parotid lesion. Bx may be needed.
