Irritated?: I would suggest that you seek medical evaluation as the nerve might be pinched.  If that is the case it might get worse with time.

Lumps and bumps.: Any lump or bump can be serious or minor, depending. If you have had it a long time, it does not hurt, and has not changed, it is likely nothing serious.  But do get it checked out.  If it is new, hurts or is changing get checked soon!

Yes.: You can regain muscle strength  and power with professional physical therapy but you must work at it and be patient.

Could be a spasthism: Muscle spasm as well as possible varicose vein are alleviated by taking anti-inflammatory medications and possibly using a warm moist wrap for 1-2 hours at a time.
However, the best option for unremitting pain and swelling is to see your physician to rule out a blood clot in your deep leg veins/ dvt, as it could be a serious issue.

Many possibilities: Ranging from bruise/contusion, fracture, tendon or ligament tear are some. Get this evaluated so it can be properly treated.

Swollen calf: This is not normal; please have your physician order an MRI to see what can be causing this disorder. Also ask for muscle enzyme testing to check if there is muscle tissue breakdown.
